This instrument, more simplistic in it's design than others but no less gorgeous, features 11 courses, an intricately carved sound hole, and ebony tuning pegs.
Jacob van de Geest was one of the pioneers of a generation that built lighter instruments in the early 70's.
They also focused on a very light stringing tension. Van de Geest originally came from South Africa and established his workshop in Vevey, Switzerland. He died sometime early in the 2000's.
Famous luters Raphaella Smits (a famous classical guitarist now), Yves Storms and Victor Van Puijenbroeck all owned van de Geest lutes then.""
